About

The bears and the bees…

inspired the name of this blog. You may know it from a children’s book or maybe even from a band. But strictly speaking neither of those have too much in common with this site, although I honestly like them both.

Is there such a thing as a honeytree, then? Probably not in the sense that the infamous bear would have it. But it can easily be imagined. In a way, it’s the same with a picture. It never really shows reality and is always created, slightly changed and depending on a point of view. When it comes to photography, I don’t try to show things how they are, but how I percieve them, and there’s always a special mood, ranging from mellifluous to melancholy.

In this context, film photography is especially appealing to me. It’s quite astonishing in how far a special film or a special camera can change one motif. But digital pictures can also be manipulated in every way imaginable. Still, it’s important to me that all the pictures I create stay within an imaginable framework, a sort of magical realism, if you will. Besides, I don’t mind my frames being quite worn. If anything fascinates me, it’s tattered trinkets, quirky places and silent ruins evoking all sorts of stories. But I feel also very intrigued by all of nature’s living and breathing artworks, especially trees, which I seem to capture more often than anything else.

In general, I like to stay open to different motifs, cameras and ways of editing. I’m learning a lot along the way and so I’m using this blog to share some of my experiences, which include mistakes as well as – hopefully – some good results or moments where I just got really lucky. After all, photography is an interesting trip and as they say: The journey is the reward. In this sense, this blog is a travel log. Welcome on board. ;)

  1. Hi!

Deine neue Seite gefällt mir schon ganz gut. Ein ansprechendes Design und sehr schöne Fotos. Eigentlich hättest Du doch auch Fotografin werden können. Einen eigenen Stil hast Du schon lange! Also weiter so!
Freue mich, wenn wir uns mal wiedersehen.

    Liebe Grüße aus Bonn.
    yours iLO
