Considering I have been shooting film for quite some time now, I am actually surprised that I used a Rolleiflex for the first time only recently. I have been quite an advocator for the Seagull, although I missed the feature of close-up lenses. So here is my first try of a Rolleiflex, probably built in the 1930s (so no close-up lenses either to be honest). The ground glass was rather dark, so it seemed hard to figure out anything on the edges and I ended up with quite some guesswork to do. Nevertheless the colours turned out to be very beautiful and the pictures to be really clear, especially when compared to the Seagull, no swirly effect. This might be the perfect camera for some vintage style portraiture. Still I won’t ditch the seagull, no worries.
