Persephone lingering

The ancient Greeks have various beautiful stories. One of them explaining the change of the seasons on earth. It is said that Persephone, daughter of Demeter was once abducted by Hades, who had fallen in love with her. He took her down into his realm and Demeter remained oblivious to where her daughter was. While desperately looking for her, the goddess of the harvest neglected the earth and people suffered from hunger. So Zeus intervened and ordered Hades to return Persephone to the earth. He did not object but made Persephone eat some pomegranate seeds, which bound her to the underworld as well. Thus Persephone finally spends one third (or one half) of the year in the underworld and the rest with her mother. When she returns, nature will be revived.
As this March is said to have been the coldest one for the last 130 years, it seems Persephone feels quite at home in the underworld this year. Personally, I like the extra time I get to take some beautiful pictures and ponder on Greek mythology.
